Selecting Fabric

There are many different types of fabrics, synthetic leather materials and leather.  It is important to understand their qualities and flaws and how they will be used.  There are so many aspects of just fabrics to consider; content, protective coatings, abrasions resistance, UV resistance and clean ability.  Upholstery price per yard can range in quality and beauty reflected in pricing of $30.00 - $450.00.

The first place to start is with color and Robert Allen has an exquisite color library to help inspire the beginning of the process of finding the right fabric for your space.  Most of the fabric companies have excellent advanced searches so you can narrow your search and only look at the right fabrics.  Pattern can also be inspiring; Cf Stinson, Kravet, Duralee, Robert Allen, and Fabricut turn out lots of options and range $60-$200 per yard.  Mayer and Cf Stinson are commercial grade quality who offer excellent creative patterns and solids which are easy to clean.  Charlotte and Greenhouse are very popular for being conservative on design and price.  It is recommend on seeing all products in person but especially leather and synthetic leather.
